TNRD evacuation order finally rescinded more than one year since floods

SPENCES BRIDGE, B.C. — The Thompson-Nicola Regional District has finally rescinded an evacuation for a stretch of Highway 8 following last November’s devastating floods.

The order was originally issued on November 20, 2021, just five days after the atmospheric river. An additional evacuation order issued on March 16 has also been lifted for the region.

The owners of property between 7210 and 9730 Highway 8 along with a single address on Spence Road will be allowed to return.

The now cleared evacuation order was the final order still standing from the November event.
