RCMP cordon off downtown Merritt block

MERRITT, B.C. — For the fourth time in less than a week, RCMP have an increased presence in the community of Merritt.

A block of Quilchena Avenue has been cordoned off by police and a tactical unit has arrived on scene.

CFJC’s Michael Reeve says it appears the officers will soon attempt an entry into the residence on Quilchena.

It’s not known whether this incident is related to a series of other violent incidents over the course of the past few days.
