KAMLOOPS — The community showed its support for the annual B-100’s Basics for Babies fundraiser with supplies going towards the Kamloops Food Bank.

In its 16th year, B-100’s Basics for Babies provides essential items donated by members of the community to the Kamloops Food Bank, as well as funding.

This year was the biggest fundraiser yet, raising more than $120,000, plus 2,000 pounds of supplies.

“This baby product is expensive and you know what, it’s needed so much of it is needed and it’s just amazing to see it come in. It’s honestly been overwhelming to see it all come in like this,” says Kamloops Food Bank Warehouse Manager Wes Graham.

Graham and Food Bank Executive Director Bernadette Siracky with both say they want to thank everyone for their generosity through monetary and item donations in the time of need.

As inflation has hit many families hard, Siracky says these items are pivotal for people in need.

“What we’ve experienced at the food bank over the last couple of years is a lot of financial distress and, as people are starting to heal from that, we’re seeing new people that we’ve never seen before, families that we’ve never seen before that need to come and use our service,” says Siracky.
