Cormorant helicopter needed for rescue over Kamloops
KAMLOOPS – There was a dramatic rescue operation over Kamloops Sunday night (Nov 13).
A hiker, injured high above the Sun Rivers community, began to flash signals for help around 4 p.m. The signals were spotted and a team from Kamloops Search and Rescue was dispatched to the site.
Soon after their arrival, a call for help was put into Canadian Forces Base Comox where Search and Rescue specialists are located. They responded with a large Cormorant search and rescue helicopter.
According to Kamloops Fire Rescue, the injured hiker required a line extraction. The rescue was completed in the dark of night and the man was flown to an ambulance and then transported to the airport where he was flown to a hospital in Vancouver.
