Local man arrested after stolen van case leads police to Paul Lake Road, North Kamloops
KAMLOOPS — A 36-year-old Kamloops man is facing seven new charges related to a stolen van case less than two weeks after he was released on an order by the courts.
In a news release issued Thursday (Nov. 10), Kamloops RCMP say John Robert Beauchemin is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, failure to stop a motor vehicle while being pursued by a police officer, operating a motor vehicle while prohibited, and two counts of fail to comply with a release order.
The charges stem from Nov. 3 when RCMP responded to a report of a stolen commercial fan which led them to Paul Lake Road.
“The suspect was recognized by police and when the officers attempted to stop him, he allegedly fled in the van in a manner that was dangerous to the public,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says.
