KAMLOOPS — A 46-year-old Kelowna man wanted on a Canada-wide arrest warrant is back in custody after a report of a stolen security vehicle in downtown Kamloops.

In a news release issued Wednesday (Nov. 9) morning, Kamloops RCMP say Joseph Alain Parent is charged with dangerous driving, mischief, possession of stolen property, theft of a motor vehicle and theft under $5,000.

Police say they responded Monday to reports of a security vehicle that had crashed into a light standard on Seymour Street West then continued driving eastbound down Columbia Street. Police add they received another report suggesting the vehicle was stolen.

“Thanks to the continuous updates provided on the vehicle’s location, officers were able to wait until the vehicle was safely stopped in Valleyview Square before moving in to take the suspect into custody,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says.
