Vernon RCMP release sketch in effort to identify suspect in school incident

VERNON, B.C. — Vernon North Okanagan RCMP have released a sketch of a suspect from an incident at a Vernon elementary school in October.

The incident on Oct. 11 saw an unknown man on the grounds of Harwood Elementary School allegedly grab a 10-year-old by the arm and ask the child to go with him.

The child pulled free and safely made their way home, where they told a parent about the incident.

“As part of the ongoing investigation, the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP has enlisted the service of a forensic sketch artist,” said Constable Chris Terleski, RCMP media relations officer.

“A forensic composite sketch of the suspect has been compiled and we are releasing it to the public who we hope can assist us in identifying the suspect and furthering our investigation.”

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male in his late 50’s. He is tall and slender with short grey hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing jean overalls and a brown shirt.
