KAMLOOPS — The Thompson Rivers University Women’s Soccer squad’s historic season came to a close Saturday (November 5) with a loss to the U of C Dinos.

In the Canada West Bronze Medal match, Calgary ended TRU’s playoff run and season with a 3-0 win.

The ‘Pack was projected to finish near the bottom of the standings before the season started and ended up putting together a program-best regular season mark of 6-6-2.

They qualified for the playoffs for only the second time in program history.

With wins over UVic and Mount Royal, the women made it to the Canada West Final four.

The Trinity Western Spartans got the best of TUR in the semifinal dropping them to the Bronze Medal game against Calgary.

U of C clinched the final berth to the U SPORTS National Championship in the win over the WolfPack knocking TRU out of the running.

An overall great year for the WolfPack women comes to a close but spirits are high heading into what next season has in store.

“We’re still a very young program. It’s kind of six and seven rookies playing games. Hopefully, the only way is up for this program. I’m disappointed for the seniors not to get a kick of the can at nationals, but it’s the first time they’ve played in playoffs, so I feel we need to celebrate this and not the initial disappointment of not getting there,” says Head Coach Mark Pennington.

Pennington says he’s looking forward to next year and building on the strong foundations the program has built.
