ASK Wellness to open warming stations at Crossroads Inn, Spero House next week
KAMLOOPS — ASK Wellness is stepping in to offer warming centres for people experiencing homelessness in Kamloops — but only for a limited time.
In a news release, the agency says a cold front is forecast to move into the B.C. Interior next week, bringing overnight lows between zero and -10 Celsius.
The City of Kamloops had planned to offer overnight winter shelters at two locations in the city, beginning November 1. However, that plan was scrubbed when its operator, the Canadian Mental Health Association, announced it was backing out just days prior to the opening.
Now ASK Wellness says it will open warming stations at Crossroads Inn (569 Seymour St.) and Spero House (317 Tranquille Rd.).
