Merritt man planning Oregon trip after $500,000 Daily Grand win

MERRITT, B.C. — A Merritt man is planning to head to the Oregon Coast for vacation following a $500,000 Daily Grand prize win from the Oct. 3 draw.

British Columbia Lottery Corporation says Richard Carmichael purchased the $500,000 ticket from the Pharmasave on Garcia Street in Merritt.

Carmichael says he shared the news with his wife first.

“It doesn’t seem real… you don’t expect it to be you and all of a sudden it is,” Carmichael says.

Aside from the road trip to Oregon, Carmichael plans to make some investments and enjoy some camping trips.
