Former Kamloops Blazer Devan Dubnyk retires from NHL after 12 seasons

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Blazers alumni Devan Dubnyk is hanging up the skates after 12 seasons in the NHL.

Dubnyk got his start in Kamloops and played for the Blazers from 2001-2006.

He played in 192 games for the Blazers, compiling an 83–87–14 record.

Dubnyk had a 2.70 goals against average (GAA), a .911 save percentage, and 15 shutouts while a member of the Blazers.

He was also named the CHL Scholastic Player of the Year in 2004.

His impressive play garnered him professional attention as he was then drafted 14th overall to the Edmonton Oilers in the 2004 NHL Draft.

In his 12 NHL seasons, Dubnyk played for a handful of teams including the Oilers, Nashville Predators, Arizona Coyotes, Minnesota Wild, and had short stints with the San Jose Sharks and the Colorado Avalanche.

Dubnyk finishes his career as a three-time All-Star, a second-team All-Star, and won the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy in 2015.
