KAMLOOPS — Gamers are going to be in heaven this weekend as Kamcon, Kamloops’ pop culture and game convention that showcases all different types of games, hits Thompson Rivers University (TRU).

Kamloops gamers and cosplayers can head down to the Campus Activity Centre at TRU to see local vendors, listen to live music, watch a comedy show and do some gaming.

“There’s a huge variety of gaming — from role-playing games to tabletop, war gaming, Super Smash Bros, card games, virtual reality, there’s a huge amount available [here],” says Event Coordinator Tyler Carpentier.

This is the fifth year Kamcon is being held and the first time in person since the start of the pandemic.

Carpentier says being able to compete and laugh together in person again is what makes it great.

“There’s something about gaming in person face-to-face with your friends and with new people you’re meeting that makes it much more dynamic and much more engaging and more fun.”

Kamcon has 20 different vendors coming to town and everyone is encouraged to join in on the events starting at 6:00 p.m. Friday and runs until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday.
