Weekend for Kamloops RCMP includes hit-and-run, knife chase and construction site break-in

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP responded to approximately 419 public complaints from midnight Friday (Oct. 21) to 9:00 a.m. on Monday (Oct. 24). Below are some incidents police attended.

Valleyview hit and run

RCMP are searching for a suspect who fled a three-vehicle crash in Valleyview Saturday afternoon.

Officers were called to a collision on the East Trans Canada Highway near Oriole Road at around 3:20 p.m. where a white uninsured Ford pickup truck reportedly rear-ended a vehicle, pushed it into another, and left the scene.

Police say the truck was later located, but the driver was not.

Chased by a knife

A man was arrested after RCMP received a report of someone who had been chased by a man with a knife in North Kamloops.

Officers responded to the 1000-block of Halston Avenue Sunday at around 8:00 a.m. where a suspect exited an apartment and was arrested without issues.

He was released on conditions and with a court date.

Downtown break-in

RCMP were called to a smash and grab downtown early Friday morning.

Officers attended a business on the 500-block of Lorne Street at around 8:15 a.m. where a window had been broken and cash and electronics were stolen.

No suspects were located.

Construction site break-in

A home under construction was broken into over the weekend

RCMP were called to a construction site on the 1300-block of Pine Crescent Friday morning where numerous tools were stolen and property was damaged.

According to police, neighbourhood inquiries revealed sounds of a door being broken in the night, but nothing was seen. Suspect images were sent to other officers as part of the ongoing investigation.
