Pair of Merritt elementary schools vandalized
MERRITT, B.C. — Merritt RCMP are seeking the public’s help in finding suspects involved in vandalizing a pair of elementary schools in the city.
In a news release issued Thursday (Oct. 27) afternoon, RCMP say vandals broke windows at both Diamond Vale and Central Elementary on Oct. 14. Two suspects were caught on surveillance wearing all black clothing, with one wearing distinct black and white Nike running shoes.
Two weeks later, the side of Diamond Vale Elementary was spray painted with blue and yellow paint on Oct. 27.
“Our children deserve to feel safe in school and going to a building where windows are boarded up and obscene things are painted on it, is heart breaking,” Sgt. Josh Roda says.
