KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops RCMP cruiser was rammed by a stolen vehicle suspect near Paul Lake Thursday afternoon (Oct. 27).

In a news release, detachment spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says the incident took place just after 12:00 noon Thursday, as an officer was patrolling near Paul Lake Road and Cold Creek Road.

There, the officer spotted a black truck that had been reported stolen earlier in the day. Investigators believe it was stolen from a North Shore business at about 1:00 a.m. The owner told CFJC Today the truck was taken from Integra Tire on Leigh Road.

As the officer pulled his cruiser toward the truck, the driver rammed the cruiser, then took off up Paul Lake Road. The Mountie was not hurt.

RCMP flooded the area with officers, who eventually found the truck abandoned near Paul Lake Road and Harper Mountain Road. Further search could not track down a suspect.

“We are releasing an image of the stolen vehicle and its license plate information in hopes that someone will recall seeing it and lead police to information or video surveillance which may help identify the suspects,” said Evelyn. “Our hope is for residents to go home and review their dash cam or security footage from the day and see if there is anything present that could help further the investigation.”
