RCMP ask for help identifying van connected to Merritt child luring attempt Tuesday

MERRITT, B.C. — UPDATE: RCMP say they have now identified the van and identified the suspects in the incident.

EARLIER: RCMP in Merritt are asking for assistance as they try to track down suspects who allegedly tried to lure children Tuesday night (Oct. 25).

According to a news release, witnesses reported a white panel plan with a ladder on the roof at the 7-Eleven in Merritt just after 6:00 p.m.

Two men are reported to have attempted to lure two young girls into the van. When the girls refused, the van drove off eastbound on Nicola Avenue.

“We are asking the public for their assistance to locate and identify the owner of the van,” said Sgt. Josh Roda of Merritt RCMP. “If you see or recognize the van, please do not approach it and call the Merritt RCMP at 250-378-4262.”
