Three Blazers make NHL Central Scouting’s preliminary list ahead of 2023 Draft

KAMLOOPS — National Hockey League (NHL) fans are encouraged to keep their eyes on three Kamloops Blazers ahead of the 2023 Entry Draft.

NHL Central Scouting released its preliminary players to watch list for 2022-23, with three Blazers receiving honours. Both forward Connor Levis and defenceman Kaden Hammell received “B” grades – the second highest – while goaltender Dylan Ernst received a “C”.

Levis has had a hot start to the 2022-23 Western Hockey League (WHL) season, leading the Blazers in scoring with 14 points (four goals and 10 assists) in 10 games. Levis’ 14 points are good for 12th in WHL scoring.

Hammell is second in Blazers plus/minus with a plus seven and has three points (two goals and an assist) in 10 games.

In his first season as the Blazers’ starting goaltender, Ernst has a 0.902 save percentage and 3.27 goals against average in eight games played. His record is 4-3-1.

The Blazers play their next game Friday (Oct. 28) against the Spokane Chiefs at Sandman Centre.

Meanwhile, seven WHL players were given “A” grades: Connor Bedard (Regina), Zach Benson (Winnipeg), Carson Bjarnason (Brandon), Nate Danielson (Brandon), Riley Heidt (Prince George), Samuel Honzek (Vancouver) and Brayden Yager (Moose Jaw).
