BC Wildlife Park ends ‘Boo at the Zoo’ Halloween tradition
KAMLOOPS — A Halloween tradition at the BC Wildlife Park in Kamloops has come to an end.
In a social media post Friday (Oct. 21), the BC Wildlife Park says it has decided not to move forward with “Boo at the Zoo” after a two-year break and much consideration.
“… the attendance rate wasn’t high enough to offset the costs associated with the event, and the pressures that it put on our facilities team,” BC Wildlife Park states. “Instead, our team will be focusing their efforts on expanding our infrastructure including building an outdoor classroom and aquatic animal rehabilitation pens, building incredible new light displays for Wildlights, and investing thousands of combined hours stringing lights and turning the Park grounds into a stunning holiday experience.”
BC Wildlife Park says its facilities teams has five individuals responsible for installing over one million lights for Wildlights and maintaining the park grounds and infrastructure. It says having hundreds of thousands of lights set up in time for Halloween within a short period is difficult and no longer feasible.
