KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops NorthPaws have brought some World Series pedigree to their bench.

In a news release, the West Coast League team has announced Brian Anderson as its head coach heading into the team’s second season.

During his playing career, Anderson, 40, was a first-round draft pick (15th overall) of the Chicago White Sox in the 2003 draft. The outfielder won a World Series ring in his rookie season with the White Sox in 2005.

Over a 355-game major league career, Anderson finished with a .227 career batting average and 22 career home runs.

Anderson spent last season as an assistant coach for the University of Arizona. He is currently the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for Pima Community College in his hometown of Tucson, Arizona.

The team says Anderson’s first task will be to begin recruiting the NorthPaws’ 2023 roster.

“If you can keep these kids bought in and excited to show up to the field every day, I think that’s the kind of secret sauce in order to be successful in the summer,” he said in the news release. “One thing I’m going to focus on is building quality arms, bringing quality arms to Kamloops. Guys that can throw strikes and also a plethora of good arms.”

Anderson succeeds Cole Armstrong as NorthPaws head coach. Coincidentally, Anderson and Armstrong were teammates as minor league players.
