Long-time Logan Lake councillor passes away at 80
KAMLOOPS — A long-time councillor and resident in Logan Lake has passed away.
In a news release, the District of Logan Lake says Allan Smith passed away on Oct. 15 at the age of 80.
“On behalf on council and all district staff, we’d like to extend our most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends who have been so impacted by this loss,” the district states. “We have valued Al’s contributions to council and the community, and we will miss his strong, steady, and continuous leadership at the table. Al was a true community champion who donated so much time and energy to our beautiful town and his investment of time has made Logan Lake an even better place for all of us to live, work, and play for many years to come.”
Smith, a Logan Lake resident for nearly 50 years, was first elected to council in November 1973 and served for a total of 31 years. The district says he’s the longest serving councillor in Logan Lake history. He served on council up until as recently as the 2022 municipal election.
