PORTLAND — The Kamloops Blazers’ win streak has ended after the Portland Winterhawks beat the visiting Blazers in a shootout on Saturday (October 15).

In a close back-and-forth battle, the Winterhawks prevailed when Marcus Nguyen scored the final goal of the shootout to lift Portland.

For the Blazers, the loss halts what was a four-game winning streak and drops them to a 4-2 record on the year.

The Winterhawks on the other hand continue their strong start to the season as they remain undefeated with a 7-0 record.

Blazers’ Matthew Seminoff scored twice in the loss and Portland’s Robbie Fromm-Delorme matched Seminoff with two goals of his own pulling out the win.

Kamloops’ Caedan Bankier continued his hot streak scoring his seventh goal in five games played.

Dylan Ernst faced 40 shots on the night stopping 36 of them en route to the loss compared to Winterhawks goalie Dante Giannuzzi who saved 29 of the 33 shots he met.

The Blazers are back in action on Tuesday (October 18) at home at the Sandman Centre as they take on the Brandon Wheat Kings.
