KAMLOOPS — The Thompson Rivers University (TRU) Women’s WolfPack soccer team has secured a playoff berth after a 1-0 win over the UNBC Timberwolves on Friday (October 14).

During the win, the WolfPack won their sixth game of the season, setting a new program record for wins in a year.

The women advance to the Canada West playoffs for the first time since 2015.

Now with a record of 6-5-2, one regular season game remains but the WolfPack are guaranteed to finish no lower than fourth in the Canada West standings.

Head Coach Mark Pennington touched on the perseverance the ‘Pack has shown throughout the season.

“The sky is the limit for this group as we move forward into the playoffs and I don’t think anyone in Canada West is going to want to play against us, because we are a tough, resolute group that have a bit of belief about us.”

If the WolfPack moves past the U of C Dinos for third, they will advance straight to the Canada West Quarter-Finals.

If the ‘Pack stays in the fourth spot, they will host a Canada West Play-In game next Saturday night.

With a postseason slot already secured all that is left is for the women to find out who and where they are playing.

The WolfPack plays a significant game on Sunday (October 16) against the Dinos to finish off the regular season.
