KAMLOOPS — After two years of virtual concerts in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Canadian Pacific (CP) Holiday Train will roll into Kamloops in person once again.

In a new release, CP says its 2022 tour will begin Nov. 23 and end on Dec. 18, providing live music and raising money and food for local food banks along its network.

The CP Holiday Train is traditionally one of the most important fundraisers for the Kamloops Food Bank. The last time it rolled into Kamloops in 2019, the CP Holiday Train collected nearly 6,000 lbs of food and $50,000 for the local food bank.

“I’m grateful to the CP team members who adapted during the COVID-19 pandemic to deliver two exceptional virtual Holiday Train shows and to all those who continued to donate while we kept community members safe,” Keith Creel, CP’s president and CEO says. “The Holiday Train is all about families and communities coming together to celebrate the season and help those in need. We are excited to be back out on the rails and in our communities, taking these two beautiful trains across our network and sharing the joy that comes with gathering in the spirit of giving.”

This year’s performers will include Alan Doyle, Tenille Townes, Mackenzie Porter and Lindsay Ell. CP says Holiday Train shows are free to attend, but it asks attendees to bring a cash or non-perishable food donation if they’re able.

Since the Holiday Train program launched in 1999, CP says it has raised more than $21 million and collected five million pounds of food for community food banks across North America.
