Environment Canada warns of strong winds across B.C. on Thanksgiving Monday

KAMLOOPS – There is another weather threat across British Columbia as the Thanksgiving weekend winds down. Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement because of concerns over high winds. The statement covers nearly the entire province.

The national weather agency expects a cold front will sweep through the province Monday bringing strong winds with it. It warns of gusts up to 70 km/h in some locations in the Southern Interior including Kamloops, which could toss loose objects into the air and cause drought-weakened tree branches to break and fall to the ground. That could lead to injuries, and potentially power failures.

The winds are expected to abate late Monday.
