WolfPack soccer women win, men lose against UBC Okanagan

KAMLOOPS — It was a frustrating night for the Thompson Rivers University men’s soccer team Friday (Oct. 7), as they dropped a 2-1 decision to the UBC Okanagan Heat in Kelowna.

The WolfPack tallied first, with Mikkel Rosenlund finding the net in the 10th minute.

UBCO came out roaring in the second half, though, with the Heat getting goals in the 50th and 77th minutes.

TRU fired shots toward the Heat net, including a late press, but couldn’t pull out the victory.

The WolfPack fall to 7-3-2, still leading Canada West’s Pacific Division. UBCO improves to 4-4-2.

It was a better result for the WolfPack women, who got a strong defensive effort in a 1-0 victory over UBCO at Hillside Stadium in Kamloops.

TRU’s Emily Clark finally solved UBCO keeper Molly Race in the 70th minute.

The win moves TRU to 5-4-2 on the season. UBCO drops to 2-6-3.

The four squads will all be in Kelowna Saturday for the rematches.
