KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Centre for the Arts Society (KCAS) says its survey found the majority of candidates running for mayor and council support building a performing arts centre.
In a news release, KCAS says it sent its survey to all 23 council candidates and five people vying for the mayor’s position. Eighteen council candidates and four mayoral candidates responded.
The survey asked five questions surrounding support for the cultural sector.
Of the 22 respondents, only one gave an outright ‘No’ to the question of supporting a plan to build an arts centre. Five respondents, however, said they did not think the City of Kamloops should be “one of the primary funders” of a performing arts centre.
