Marion Schilling teacher honoured with prestigious award

KAMLOOPS — A teacher at Marion Schilling Elementary is among this year’s recipients of the Prime Minister’s Awards for Teaching Excellence.

Brandon Bell is one of four B.C. recipients of a Certificate of Achievement.

Bell’s achievement was revealed in a Kamloops-Thompson School District news release issued Friday (Oct. 7).

“I am honored and humbled. It was a wonderful feeling just to go through the experience of being nominated,” said Bell in the release. “As for actually winning this recognition, I was shocked. I couldn’t process it at first.”

The awards celebrate “exceptional elementary and secondary school teachers in all disciplines since 1994. Teaching Excellence Awards recipients are honoured for their remarkable achievements in education and for their commitment to preparing their students for a digital and innovation-based economy.”
