KAMLOOPS — Mounties in Kamloops are continuing to investigate a reported theft and weapons incident along Fortune Drive earlier this month.

In a news release, Kamloops RCMP say they were called to a North Shore store September 15 around 4:45 p.m. They were responding to a call of a man with a blue Mohawk who had stolen from the store and then threatened staff with a knife and bear spray.

“The Kamloops RCMP takes these reports very seriously, especially when a weapon is involved,” said Kamloops RCMP Corporal Crystal Evelyn. “In this case, a number of other high-priority events also required the presence of police officers.”

The suspect ran away and since no one was seriously injured, police didn’t respond immediately. “This information reduced the risk to safety and calls for service continued to be triaged for dispatch based on their priority and risk,” said Cpl. Evelyn.
