KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP responded to approximately 414 public complaints from midnight Friday (Sept. 16) to 9:00 a.m. Monday (Sept. 19). Below are some of the incidents police attended.

Bear spray and truck assault

RCMP say officers responded to the 1600-block of Lac Le Jeune Road early Sunday morning for a report involving the sound of a vehicle crash followed by yelling.

According to the RCMP’s investigation, a man found with minor injuries was in a dispute that became violent. He was then allegedly assaulted with bear spray before being struck by an older model green pickup truck.

Police say the victim and suspect are known to one another.

Serious crash on Highway 5 near Rayleigh

A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash at Devick Road Friday night.

RCMP say they responded to a report in which a car turned left onto Old Highway 5 and into the path of a southbound tractor trailer loaded with lumber.

The car’s driver was taken to hospital in serious condition, while the transport truck driver suffered minor injuries after their vehicle flipped into the ditch.

Reports suggest the driver of the car was not wearing his seatbelt.

Truck pulled from North Thompson River

A stolen truck was recovered under the Halston Bridge Sunday morning.

Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP responded near Kootenay Lane and Kootenay Place where an older model white GMC Sierra was located with its front end in the river and its license plates missing.

The vehicle was reported stolen on Sept. 11 from 14th Street in Kamloops.

Anyone with information related to the investigation is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP.

North Shore threats

A man was arrested in a North Shore home early Sunday morning and charged with uttering threats.

RCMP attended the 300-block of Fortune Drive for an assault report where they learned the man was armed inside a home and had allegedly threatened the victim.

After several attempts to call the man outside, RCMP say the Police Dog Service Unit entered the home and arrested him without incident. He was released with conditions and a court date.
