Two charged after North Shore weapons seizure
KAMLOOPS — RCMP say two Kamloops men have been charged after weapon seizures on the North Shore overnight.
In a news release, detachment spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says an officer patrolling at about 3:00 a.m. noticed a suspicious white pickup in an alleyway near the 1000-block of Surrey Avenue.
“While investigating, the officer recognized a man known to police, in addition to what appeared to be a firearm,” said Evelyn. “Further investigation that followed led to the discovery of more weapons, including a handgun located on one of the suspects, a long gun, ammunition and a machete.”
A 38-year-old man is facing five charges of possessing a loaded firearm without authorization, occupying a vehicle while knowing there was a firearm inside, and possessing while prohibited a restricted weapon, a firearm, and ammunition.
