
CFJC’s James Peters one of three finalists for B.C.’s Commentator of the Year award
KAMLOOPS – CFJC Today journalist James Peters has been recognized with a Webster Award nomination in the category of Commentator of the Year – City Mike Award. His nomination as a finalist was announced in front of peers during a gala Tuesday evening (Sept. 20) in Vancouver. Peters will be up against Steve Burgess of The Tyee and Pete McMartin of the Vancouver Sun.
Peters’ popular weekly Two and Out column appears each Friday on CFJC Today and on the CFJC Evening News on CFJC TV. His topics range from the impacts of government decisions on local residents to the latest cultural trends in the Thompson – Okanagan region.
Peters’ is a long-serving and trusted member of Kamloops media, who has been writing and reading afternoon radio newscasts on B-100 and 98.3 CIFM since 2006. He serves as CFJC’s Assistant News Director and is highly sought-after as a moderator at local political debates and candidate forums.
The prestigious Webster Awards are named after legendary B.C. journalist Jack Webster, who was considered to be one of Western Canada’s most influential reporters. The awards are overseen by the Jack Webster Foundation to foster and celebrate excellence in journalism.
