KAMLOOPS — Earlier Friday morning (Sept. 16), Kamloops RCMP received reports of shots fired in Sahali. The calls came into police at around 7:00 a.m. with multiple officers quickly responding to the scene on the 700-block of McGill Road.

Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Crystal Evelyn confirmed that, as of 9:30 Friday morning, police believe there is no threat to public safety and all suspects involved in the shooting have been arrested.

“Kamloops RCMP front line officers responded to the 700-block of McGill Road not only for reports of shots fired but also of a firearm observed in this area,” said Evelyn. “Multiple members responded and through updates were able to track several suspects. Right now, there is five people in police custody as part of this investigation. It is believed to associated to a targeted incident.”

RCMP were unable to confirm if one or more of the suspects was a resident in the building complex. At this time no injuries have been reported to police. Following the initial incident on McGill, RCMP report that arrests were made at various locations in the Sahali neighbourhood.

“Right now, it’s still very preliminary in the investigation. As you can see officers are still on scene right now collecting evidence and more information associated with the investigation. My understanding is it was all relatively in an area around here, so it was all the Sahali area where people were located,” added Evelyn.
