Two Lillooet councillors competing to become the district’s next mayor
LILLOOET, B.C. — Two councillors are aiming to become the new mayor of Lillooet.
Ahead of nominations closing for B.C. municipal elections on Sept. 9, a list from CivicInfo BC shows two candidates for the mayor of Lillooet: current councillors Laurie Hopfl and Jen Leach. Current mayor Peter Busse is not seeking re-election.
Hopfl was first elected to council in 2014, receiving the highest number of votes with over 61 per cent. She achieved the same result with over 79 per cent during her re-election in 2018. Leach was elected to council with over 67 per cent of the vote in 2018.
Lillooet will have a mostly new council, with Barb Wiebe as the only incumbent councillor seeking re-election.
