KAMLOOPS — Beginning September 12, people travelling on Highway 5A will have disruptions as resurfacing work will start.

The City of Kamloops says BA Dawson Blacktop Ltd. has been contracted to mill and repave Highway 5A from Rogers Way to Running Horse Ranch Road.

Construction is scheduled to occur Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m – 5:00 p.m.

The city anticipates the construction work will be finished in mid-October.

In a news release, traffic will be maintained in one lane in each direction, with the exception of short-term work in intersections.

People should expect shoulder lane closures for up to 600 meters at a time.

Plan accordingly, expect delays, and the city says to exercise caution in construction zones and obey all traffic control signage and personnel.

Additionally, “vibratory compaction equipment may be in use; therefore, any fragile items should be packaged or protected from damage due to vibration,” the city release reads.
