KAMLOOPS — An addiction recovery campaign is looking to create awareness while also putting on a show.

During the National Softball Association (NSA) Canada Co-ed Slow-pitch World Series at the Tournament Capital Ranch, a home run event is bringing a few former MLB players to town.

MLB Sluggers, Seattle Mariners Mike Cameron, and Boston Red Sox Jonny Gomes will be signing autographs for fans, playing in a softball game, and participating in the Bomb Show.

From 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday (September 3), there will be the Bomb Show, an auction, and country music performances by Shaun Austin.

Joe Rose, NSA Canada National Director, says people will get to watch and listen to a show from ex-pros while supporting a good cause.

He adds that with the event, the hope is for people battling addictions to speak out and tell their stories.

“Just knowing that people are going to have a chance to talk about addiction, a chance to talk about some of the issues they’re challenged with. Being an adult isn’t always easy and having someone to talk with is very important. In an environment like this, you never know where you’re going to find that person to talk to.”

Members of the public are encouraged to attend the events at the Tournament Capital Ranch.
