Pineview Valley Elementary School a step closer to reality

KAMLOOPS — School Division (SD) 73 Board Chair Heather Grieve says the Pineview Valley Elementary School is a “step closer to reality.”

The possible school that has been talked about for some time in the city, may now come to fruition.

When applying for a new school, a plan needs to be submitted once the division owns the land.

SD73 did not own the land in order to move forward with the project but now that has changed.

“In council, I believe it was on July 11th, it came forward that [the land grant application] had actually gone through. So that’s a big step so now we’re just waiting for the official transfer for land titles. The land will be the district’s and then we can submit our business case.”

Grieve adds that the business case process is nearing completion and having the land titles approved was a step in the right direction.

She does say though, that it will be a long process with all the moving pieces.

“How things actually play out will remain to be seen but, we’re doing everything we can to speed the process along as much as possible.”
