Campfire ban to end in Kamloops Fire Centre Friday

KAMLOOPS — Campfires will be allowed through the Kamloops Fire Centre for the Labour Day long weekend.

The BC Wildfire Service said in a news release Wednesday (Aug. 31) that effective noon on Friday (Sept. 2), the campfire prohibition will be lifted.

There are still regulations on Category 2 and 3 open fires, as well as fireworks, sky lanterns, burn barrels or burn cages, and binary exploding targets.

“While the Kamloops Fire Centre is seeing shorter days, increased overnight recoveries and relative humidities the public is encouraged to exercise caution with any campfire use,” said the news release.
