Three people dead following two-vehicle crash on Cariboo Highway north of Clinton
CLINTON, B.C. — Clinton RCMP say three people died following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 97 near Chasm Road early Saturday (Aug. 27) morning.
In a news release issued Tuesday (Aug. 30), police say they responded at 2:45 a.m. and found a Subaru Impreza and a Chevrolet Traverse fully engulfed in flames.
Police says one person was trapped in the Subaru and pronounced dead at the scene, while two people in the Chevrolet were outside the vehicle but eventually succumbed to their injuries. RCMP says other occupants in the crash were taken to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.
Through interviews, RCMP say they determined the Subaru crossed into the oncoming lane and collided head on with the Chevrolet. Police say investigators are working to determine the driving behaviour of the Subaru driver leading up to the crash.
