City of Kamloops begins accepting nomination packages from mayor and council hopefuls
KAMLOOPS — It’s nomination day in Kamloops.
Starting Tuesday (Aug. 30) and lasting until Friday, Sept. 9, the City of Kamloops will receive nomination packages from candidates for mayor, council, and School District No. 73 school trustees at City Hall. One mayor, eight councillors, and five trustees will be elected in the 2022 Kamloops municipal election.
Residents can track which candidates have publicly expressed their intentions to run for mayor and council, and have formally submitted their nomination package, on CFJC Today’s municipal election 2022 section. However, the full list of names that will appear on the ballot won’t be official until it’s published online by Amanda Passmore, Kamloops’ chief election officer, by the end of the City’s business day on Monday, Sept. 19.
Kamloops residents can vote at one of 16 polling stations on election day on Oct. 15, or in advance on Oct. 5, 8, or 12 at either Heritage House in Riverside Park of the Sports Centre Lounge at McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre. The City says mail-in ballots will also be available upon request if residents are unable to attend voting dates.
