Kamloops RCMP say black Honda Civic could be linked to Friday night homicide

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP are trying to narrow down how a black Honda Civic could have travelled to Rayleigh shortly after a drive-by shooting Friday night.

In a release, Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says the late 1990’s two-door sedan was located around 2 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 27) when it caught fire on Frontage Road.

The discovery came just hours after two men were shot on Ord Road and Singh Street, killing one and sending the other to hospital in stable condition.

“At this time, it’s unknown if the two incidents are related,” said Staff Sgt. Todd Wiebe from the Kamloops RCMP Serious Crime Unit. “We are turning to the public with hope that someone has information related to the movements of that black Honda Civic from the days and hours prior to its discovery in Rayleigh on Saturday morning.”

Wiebe added, “Maybe you noticed a vehicle matching the description speeding around your neighbourhood, maybe it was parked on your road and struck you as suspicious, whatever it was that made an older model black Honda Civic sedan stick out in your mind recently, we want to hear from you.”

The victim is well-known to police and the homicide is believed to be targeted, but Kamloops RCMP are still looking into whether it is gang-related.
