KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP responded to approximately 418 public complaints from midnight Friday (Aug. 19) to 9:00 a.m. Monday (Aug. 22). Below are some incidents police attended.

Running with a knife downtown

Multiple reports of a woman with a knife led to a large police presence downtown shortly after midnight Monday morning.

Police say they receive reports of a woman yelling and running at people with a knife near Third Avenue and Victoria Street, but she wasn’t found.

Witnesses described her as a white woman in her late 30s with grey/blonde hair wearing a blue jersey.

Anyone who witnessed the reported knife threats, or has video or information related it, is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP.

Stolen vehicle recovered following North Shore crash

A woman was arrested for impaired driving and possession of stolen property following a crash on the North Shore early Saturday morning.

RCMP say they were called to the 700-block of Tranquille Road at around 2:35 a.m. where a vehicle had driven into a concrete barrier with a tree in the middle, and a woman was slumped over the steering wheel. Police checks revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen on Thursday (Aug. 18).

According to RCMP, the woman’s breath samples showed a blood alcohol content as high as 240 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. Driving with a blood alcohol content exceeding 80 milligrams is a criminal offence.

Police say the vehicle was returned to its rightful owner and the woman was released with violation tickets, conditions, and a court date.

Red Deer to a Valleyview drive-thru

A vehicle responsible for multiple reports from Red Deer to Kamloops finally came to a stop in a Valleyview drive-thru late Friday afternoon.

RCMP say the Tk’emlúps Rural Detachment was dispatched to assist the Barriere and Kelowna detachments in locating a vehicle previously reported as being driven recklessly by someone wanted on a Form 21 Mental Health Apprehension Warrant.

RCMP say they found the vehicle near Rayleigh and followed it until it exited the East Trans Canada Highway, where it entered a restaurant drive-thru. The driver was arrested and taken to the hospital by police.
