KAMLOOPS — Two women have been arrested as RCMP investigate an armed robbery on the Kamloops North Shore.

In a news release, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says officers were called to a fast-food restaurant in the 700-block of Fortune Drive at about 5:35 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 16).

Witnesses say a woman entered the restaurant, showed a weapon and passed a note to an employee, making off with cash and the employee’s phone.

The woman, along with another woman who was waiting outside the restaurant, made off on mountain bikes.

A bystander later found the cell phone and brought it in.

“Thanks to the assistance of a witness who saw the women fleeing and captured them on video, police were able to locate and arrest one of the suspects shortly after,” said Evelyn. “Images of the second woman were distributed to officers, who later recognized and arrested her while responding to another call for service.”

Both suspects have been released with court dates and court-ordered conditions.

Anyone with further information, including video, is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 and refer to file number 2022-28731.
