KAMLOOPS —Kamloops RCMP responded to approximately 372 public complaints from midnight Friday (Aug. 5) to 9 a.m. on Monday (Aug. 8). Below are some incidents police attended.

Hillside Drive parking lot assault

Multiple police officers responded to a parking lot on the 1000-block of Hillside Drive Saturday at around 9 a.m. for a report of a distraught man assaulting people.

RCMP say the man allegedly advanced towards an officer with his fist raised and refused to listen to commands. Police say they arrested the man after an officer used a taser.

The man was released with conditions and a court date related to the alleged assaults, then arrested under the Mental Health Act and transported to the hospital. Police say those involved received minor injuries.

Impaired driver crashes in Westsyde

RCMP were called to the 1600-block of Westsyde Road Saturday night where a car travelling on Bachelor Drive went off the roadway, rolled down an embankment, and into a home below.

Police say the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was arrested for refusing to provide a breath test sample. He was transported to hospital for assessment as a precaution but left shortly after and was located by police downtown.

The man received a notice of driving prohibition and vehicle impoundment, as well as tickets for no driver’s license, no insurance, and drive without due care.

Stolen vehicle recovered in Brocklehurst

A woman was arrested after a report of two people fighting in Brocklehurst led police to recovering a stolen vehicle and computer early Sunday night.

RCMP say they were called to the 600-block of Desmond Street where two people in a green Pontiac were allegedly driving erratically up and down the street and arguing. Police checks on the license plates showed them attached to a different vehicle.

Officers attended the area, located the vehicle, and confirmed it had been reported stolen from Kimberly Crescent in mid July. A male suspect in the case is still being sought.

Anyone with information related to the investigation is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP.
