Clearwater emergency department to close for eight consecutive nights

CLEARWATER, B.C. — The community of Clearwater will be without its emergency department for the next eight nights.

In a news release, Interior Health says the Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital Emergency Department will close from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. each night for the next eight nights, starting Thursday.

The closures — or diversions, as Interior Health calls them — are due to limited staffing availability.

The department will be open during daytime hours.
