KAMLOOPS — The best young golfers from across the country were at Rivershore Golf Course this week.

As the page turned to the final round on Wednesday (Aug. 10) every golfer in the field had one man in their sights, Jean-Philippe Parr. The Team Canada golfer from Quebec was the defending champ and held a three-stroke lead.

“Yeah, for sure. I was still nervous. It’s a big tournament; I always want to win it. But, it definitely helped last year to have a little more experience and get the feeling of being in the hunt,” said Parr.

Parr would finish at 19-under par, to claim the silver cup by three strokes over a trio of boys tied for second.

The tournament changed for Parr on Day Two, when he tied the course record at Rivershore with a 10-under 62. He credited an eagle for jump-starting his title defense.

“On Monday, I made an eagle on 4 — that was pretty good. And then today, I made a really good birdie on 11, probably one of the hardest tee shots on the course,” said Parr.

With the victory, Parr earns $1,200 and exemptions into the U.S. Junior Boys championship and the Canadian Amateur tournament in 2023. Thanks to his win last year, those are two events where Parr has experience.

Overall, the 12-member Team Canada teammates all showed well at Rivershore as they pushed each other for the title.

“It was definitely a lot of fun, played with some good buddies. Just made the rounds even more fun than usual because you are playing friends and it’s a comfortable environment,” added Parr.

Parr was also crowned provincial boys champ with Team Quebec.
