KAMLOOPS — Ribfest has come and left Kamloops yet again for the fun-filled rib-feasting festival.

The crowds turned out over the three-day event, with Saturday (August 6) especially seeing huge participation.

“It’s been absolutely great. People have been patient; they’re having fun. Our closing act [Saturday] night was absolutely amazing. We’re anticipating by the numbers — and talking with the RCMP and so on — that our numbers were probably in the range of 20,000 to 25,000 people in the park [Saturday] night,” says Bryce Herman, Ribfest spokesperson.

Owner of Smoke Dem Bones, Neal Moore says he’s grateful to be involved in the fun.

“I’ve been doing this for about 28 years now and this is an amazing show.”

In addition to the family fun event, all of the funds raised go back into the community through the Rotary Club of Kamloops Daybreak.

“One-hundred per cent of the proceeds that come in out of Ribfest go back toward our community. They have a focus towards seniors and youth programs so that’s the two facets that we really promote,” Herman says.

“It’s awesome for us to generate money for them for the community it’s just perfect it’s an all-around family thing so it’s amazing,” adds Moore.

All different ages were welcome and all different rib lovers attended.

“We absolutely loved it and we highly recommend it to anyone to visit Kamloops,” said one couple.

“Just coming down with the family with good vibes, a good community, it’s awesome to see everybody out here you know what I mean Kamloops throws it down, that’s what I’m saying,” adds another event-goer.

That’s a wrap for Kamloops’ 2022 Ribfest at Riverside Park, where laughs were shared and ribs were eaten.
