With wildfires flaring up, the City of Kamloops activates its Emergency Operations Centre
KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops has activated its Emergency Operations Centre as wildfires begin to pop up in the area.
In a news release today (Aug. 2), the City says is it working with Kamloops Fire Rescue and the BC Wildfire Service to monitor wildfire conditions. Although there are no wildfires threatening the city at this time, civic officials are reminding residents to be prepared by adding the Voyent Alert! app to their phone and by following wildfire threats in local media.
“Now is the time to get familiar with the Voyent Alert app, to make sure you have pins in the correct locations, and to get all other evacuation preparations in order,” said William Beatty, City of Kamloops Emergency Preparedness Manager.
Emergency officials suggest residents prepare an Emergency Plan for their home. The plan should include a list of key family member contacts, a list of healthcare providers, and insurance policy information.
