NOHOMIN CREEK WILDFIRE

Blaze near Lytton expected to grow under dry heat

Jul 31, 2022 | 1:18 PM

LYTTON, B.C. — Hot and dry conditions are expected to cause increased fire behaviours for the Nohomin Creek wildfire burning near Lytton, currently one of two wildfires of note and the biggest wildfire in the province.

The latest update from the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) says the fire is burning at around 3000 hectares.

BCWS says the hot conditions caused growth in fire activity Saturday (July 31).

Helicopters dumped water on the blaze through the day and were effective in reducing fire behaviour. Fuel is running out for the fire, and the rocky slopes are also helping the burn slow down.
