Evening closure coming to Ashcroft’s emergency department

ASHCROFT — The Ashcroft Hospital’s Emergency Department will be closed briefly tonight (July 29).

Interior Health is warning residents that the department will go on diversion tonight between the hours of 5 p.m. and 10 p.m, due to limited staffing availability.

Regular service hours are scheduled to resume on Saturday (July 30) at 8 a.m.

The health authority adds that there is no emergency department service during the week or overnight on weekends in Ashcroft. Regular emergency department hours are Friday, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday/Sunday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Should people in Ashcroft need emergency care while the department is closed, they’re asked to call 9-1-1, call HealthLink BC at 8-1-1, or visit the emergency department at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.
