Kamloops RCMP expressing thanks to civilian who helped officer in recent incident
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Mounties are passing along their thanks to a member of the community who came to the aid of an RCMP officer this week.
In a release, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says on Wednesday (July 27) around 10:10 a.m., an officer was responding to a request for a well-being check on the 1000-block of Westminister Avenue on the city’s north shore.
He eventually found himself in need of emergency police back-up, and the first person to arrive at the scene was a nearby civilian.
“What came in as a standard complaint to check on a group of people allegedly using drugs and acting in a lewd manner, led to something much different when one of the men the officer was checking on left quickly,” says Evelyn, “Police checks confirmed the man had a warrant and the officer began patrolling the area to locate him.”
